GAAP Easy is a general ledger double entry accounting system designed to assist you in preparing GAAP financial statements in accordance with the new governmental financial reporting model as promulgated by GASB Statements 34 (for state and local governments) and 35 (for colleges and universities).  GAAP Easy has two modules:  1) State and Local Governments, and 2) Colleges and Universities.

GAAP Easy breaks down an entity, such as a university or city, into sub-entities for data entry and reporting purposes.  For example, a typical university might be broken down into two or more sub-entities: the primary institution and one or more component units.  A typical state or local government would be broken down into two groups of sub-entities, one group for government-wide reporting and another group for fund reporting.  For example, for government-wide reporting, a city might be broken down into the following sub-entities:  1) governmental activities, 2) business-type activities, and 3) component units.  The city would have additional sub-entities for its fund financial statement reporting (i.e., governmental, proprietary, and fiduciary funds).

• Creates Basic Financial Statements.  GAAP Easy will create the basic financial statements that are needed for your annual financial report (i.e., the statements before the notes).  It is not designed to create schedules or statements for inclusion in Management's Discussion and Analysis or supplementary information.
• Complete Set of "Start-Up" Journal Entries Provided. GAAP Easy provides you with a complete set of example journal entries to help you get started. You can add new entries, change these entries, or delete them.
• Adjusting and Correcting Entries a Snap. Adjusting and correcting entries can be made in seconds. Also, after making an adjusting entry, you can print related financial statements to see the effect of the entry immediately.
• Organization and Training Tool.  GAAP Easy helps you organize the entire financial statement preparation process. It documents each journal entry, the source of data for the journal entry, and who is responsible for gathering the needed data. This not only saves you statement preparation time, but it serves as a training tool.
• Audit Trail Documentation.  GAAP Easy has special documentation that provides an audit trail for all journal entries. Any single financial statement item in any of the financial statements, such as accounts payable in the government-wide statements, can be traced back to its original source(s) in minutes.
• Simplicity.  It doesn't get any simpler than GAAP Easy. You must try it to appreciate how much time and money it will save you.

Upgrades Will Be On The Internet: To install the software for the first time, follow the instructions on the CD.  Upgrades will be provided on this web site.  The upgrades install the same way as the original CD.

Who Should Use This Software?  GAAP Easy has two modules, each of which is intended for use by a specific type of governmental entity.  The State and Local Government module is intended for use by states, cities, counties, and special purpose governmental entities, such as rural water districts.  The College and University module is intended for use by virtually any college or university, large and small.

Charges to Get Started: There are no charges for the software until after it has been installed, and you are up and running, and you are completely satisfied. To use the software you will be required to sign an annual support agreement, but there are no additional charges for installing the software and getting you up and running.
